Heavy Tungsten Alloy

Heavy Tungsten Alloy bears the high density ranging 17.0-18.8g/cc (90-98W) with the components of W-Ni-Cu, W-Ni-Fe Or W-Ni-Cu-Fe and etc. These alloys have very high melting points and have a density twice that of steel and are more than 50% heavier than lead.meanwhile,it’s an excellent ductile material, according to modern powder metallurgy new technology, these tungsten alloy could be strengthen and gained long lifespan used in many industries, such as aerospace, electronic and electric light source, automobile, medical, oil exploration, military and so forth. Among metals, tungsten have the highest melting points , it is a significant refractory metal and keep good high temperature strength; heavy tungsten alloy bears high density, very high melting points, excellent creep resistance, heat conductivity, as well as electronic emission .tungsten alloy is an optimal counterweight material, alloy addition, die casting mould, radiation shielding.

Weison Advanced Materials(WEISON) turning powder into precision finishing in the forms of granule, ball, rod, bar, cube, sheet, plate, disc, tube, cylinder, crucible, special design W base alloy :
W-Ni-Fe ; W-Ni-Cu ; W-Cu ; W-Ni-Co ; W-Ni-Mn ; W-Ni-Ag ; W-Ni-Ti ; W-Ta ; W-Mo ; W-Re.

Tungsten heavy alloy evolve

1938 OJSmithlls study for W-Cu on the purpose of seek to shielding materials against radiant ray, study discover when add less nickel into alloy the material will be of excellent shielding X ray effectiveness.
In order to reduce cost while enhance alloys’ tensile strength , assumption of copper replace with iron generated, subsequently a series experiments prove out new generation useful tungsten heavy alloy material W-Ni-Fe. the matrix phase has low melting point , as the W ‘s low solubility, liquid phase stuffed around tungsten particle well , W-Ni compound not easy to form.
For the latest years , with the development of aerospace and nuclear industry , researchers dig further to strengthen alloy’s properties and cater to increasingly changing market need , multi component alloy involved in many applications such as W-Ni-Fe-Cu , W-Ni-Fe-Mo .

How to make tungsten heavy alloy products ?

I . traditional technique
PM mold pressing and sinter technique traditionally adopted to achieve tungsten heavy alloy products. Specifically speaking, dose W.Ni.Fe.Cu.Mo powder and put the mixture into pressing mold, mold compression forming on press machine, lead to press billet. The blank in the process of sinter under appropriate control make tungsten heavy alloy products. some post treatment according to customer’s requirement.
II . Modern technique
Metal Injection Molding MIM flexible adopted to achieve tungsten heavy alloy products .it is a metal working process by which finely powdered metal is mixed with a certain amount of binder materials to comprise a feedstock capable of being handled by plastic processing equipment through a process known as injection mold forming. while heating the mixture become semi fluid paste, inject into die cavity under a certain pressure, after solidify to green pressing, the green pressing gradually heat under protective gas and then remove its binding material, to pre-sinter and high temperature sinter so that obtain tungsten heavy alloy products. due to the semi fluid could be well evenly filled with die cavity, even very complex shape, so that each parts of green pressing is well distributed, when sinter it occur shrink uniformly, therefore MIM is capable of making complex shape, high precision and good performance tungsten heavy alloy products.
Nowadays the metal inject molding technique is widely used in our production and have been enjoyed high reputation, especially for mass production the costs can be largely reduced , will help customers save cost.

1 the charting covers four grades of the machinable ,high density tungsten base metal who produced by of metal powder metallurgy pressing and sintering of which the composition is mainly tungsten. This kind of tungsten heavy alloy materials may be used for spare parts or be used for parts that may be coated with other materials for protection against corrosion and abrasion.
2 application -parts made from tungsten heavy alloy material are intended for uses such as weights or counter balances in static or dynamic balancing high speed rotating inertia system, radiation shielding ,hypervelocity impact and shock absorption.
3 For special unique application, properties or requirements may be important. These heavy tungsten alloys may contain elements which make them magnetic. Where freedom from magnetic it should be point out and choose non magnetic tungsten heavy alloy material in the process of production. non magnetic feature is defined as material having a maximum magnetic permeability of 1.05.

Due to the remarkable plasticity for tungsten heavy alloys, variety of shapes is available to be achieved. For instance below mentioned tungsten heavy alloy products for hot sale on the market
-tungsten rod / tungsten bar / tungsten cylinder
-tungsten tube / tungsten barrel / tungsten collimator
-tungsten cube / tungsten square / tungsten block
-tungsten ball / tungsten pellet / tungsten bead
-tungsten sheet / tungsten plate / tungsten foil
-tungsten sleeve / tungsten bushing / tungsten nozzle
Actually tungsten heavy alloy material mainly suitable for three applications
-tungsten counter weights
-tungsten radiation shielding
-tungsten shock absorbing
